EDUCATION FOR PEACE: DEVELOPMENT OF ACTION STRATEGIES TO PROMOTE A CULTURE OF PEACE FROM A PSYCHOSOCIAL PERSPECTIVE

According to the Law of Directives and Bases of Education (Law No. 9,394, of December 20, 1996), the Brazilian education system is responsible for developing actions aimed at promoting the Culture of Peace –art. 12, item X. Based on this understanding, this project aims to investigate which action/pedagogical strategies have been developed by Basic Education school communities in favor of promoting the Culture of Peace; therefore, the investigation will have as a psychosocial theoretical-methodological contribution the Social Representations Theory (SRT), articulated with the field of Education for Peace (EPP). At the same time, the following investigative themes come together: Subjectivities; Peace; Human rights; Multiculturalism; Conflicts; Violence; Recognition of the Other; Social Exclusion/Perverse Inclusion; Moral values; Identity, among others. A priori, the project will have two complementary phases: 1st Phase – theoretical study about the interconnections of TRS with the EPP (2nd Sem. 2021 to 1st Sem. 2022); 2nd Phase – empirical study focused on unveiling the action and intervention strategies in benefit of promoting the Culture of Peace in Basic Education (1st Sem. 2022 to 2nd Sem. 2022). In this last phase, a set of data collection tools will be used, including the use of questionnaires, observations, interviews, focus groups, and others. In order to assist the data analysis, the software IRaMuTeQ, CHIC, SPSS, NVivo, as well as the adaptation of the Content Analysis proposed by M. Franco will be used. As a result, it is expected that, in addition to this project, to deepen critical reflection on the psychosocial contribution in the field of Education for Peace/Research for Peace, it is also expected that the participants re-elaborate and develop new knowledge, action strategies and irenic educational practices based on the Culture of Peace (UNESCO, 1995).
